Dear Starr Elementary School Community,

At Starr Elementary, our mission is to provide a nurturing and enriching environment where every student can thrive both academically and socially. We are dedicated to educating the whole child by integrating the arts, music, and social learning into our daily curriculum, ensuring that our students grow into well-rounded individuals.

Academic Excellence

At Starr, we are committed to academic excellence through an integrated literacy approach. Our students engage in purposeful reading, writing, and discussions that foster critical thinking and content mastery. With the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, you will see a strong emphasis on writing across all subjects. Our students will demonstrate their learning through math, science, and social studies, working with complex texts and developing higher-level thinking skills by analyzing both fiction and nonfiction.

Social Development

Our staff is dedicated to creating a culture of connectedness and trust among students, staff, parents, and the community. We believe in the power of relationships and strive to make every child feel safe, valued, and confident in taking risks in their learning journey. Through programs like Safe and Civil Schools and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, we promote respect and celebrate diversity, ensuring that our school is a welcoming place for all.

Community Collaboration

We are fortunate to have a supportive PTA that collaborates with us to offer a variety of enriching experiences for our students. Through fundraising and volunteer efforts, our students benefit from after-school programs, classes, and field trips that enhance their learning. We encourage parents to get involved in any way they can, as their participation is crucial to our students' success. Together, we can create a vibrant and engaging educational environment.
